Pause and Think-Are we the true disciples of Sh. Guru Gobind Singh Ji?

Worldwide celebration of Sh. Guru Gobind Singh’s, 10th Guru of Sikhs, birthday all over the globe have once again focused the world attention on the action oriented ideology of Guru Gobind Singh which calls for the elimination of evil and inspires ignites the human minds for generating such social ethos which ultimately become the bedrock of egalitarian society. Khalsa Panth-a sect of pure minded people, was created to make an end of cast system prevalent in Indian society and thus to initiate the process of liberation of human mind and all sort of divide in the society and mind as well. There is no place for ‘mindsets’ in Sikhism. It is like a perennial flow of goodness emanating from human thought in action. It calls for end of discrimination against women and underprivileged, who are called as ‘schedule casts’ in India. But it has been felt that the desired impact of Guru Gobind Singh’s ideology has been taken on ritualistic level only, not in spirit as ‘divide’ is visible not only in behaviorism but in daily ritual performance related to religion. Many gurdwaras after many casts have emerged in villages named after many casts where congregation of particular cast or section assembles for prayers and recitation of Gurbani. Jat Sikh, Ramdasia Sikh, Lubana Sikh, Ramgarhia Sikh etc. have their own exclusive gurdwaras for all sorts of religious ceremonies including Anand Kaarj. Even cremation grounds are different for them in villages. Sh. Guru Gobind Singh Ji never wanted this ‘divide’ in Sikhism as his first divine act during coronation of Khalsa Panth on Biasakhi Day was to end cast system through partaking of Amrit of Five Beloved Ones (Panj Piaras) in one bowl. His second divine act was to advice Khalsa Panth not mix up socially with those who killed female child immediately after birth, but sadly most of female feticide incidents are occurring among the Sikhs. It seems we have not indulged in introspection so far. Let us pause for a while and think that are we the real disciples of Sh. Guru Gobind Singh Ji who sacrificed his all for an establishment of humanitarian faith for total mankind, not for one section only.

Sikh Psyche on Crossroads

Sikh psyche is perturbed over the recent happenings in Punjab in the name of religion. The sane elements vehemently feel that what is happening is not an aberration but direct result of the non-implementation of the ideology of Guru Nanak and Guru Gobind Singh by those who have been at the helm of affairs.
The question arises whether those at the helm of affairs have been conscious to the real message of the holy Gurus. What the intellectual in the Sikhism about the indirect creeping of tribalism in Sikhism which has not allowed the message of the Gurus to percolate in the form of casteless society has not been materialized. They feel that if deviation or complete disassociation in the stream of Sikhism comes to fore is because of lack of mainstream in Sikhism where the poor sections of society feel deprived of the participation in the Sikh religious affair because of the domination of feudal mindset which controls the Sikh religious affairs through political maneuvering.
This is what they think is the result of deraism which is a religious reality. It is the duty of the members of the Sikh affairs to ensure that the deprive classes are allowed to have their direct say in the religious affairs. If not done timely the exoduses in the near future.
